Dear SMART Members and Friends,
We’re grateful to report a much-needed quiet week following our marathon monitoring efforts!
Special Visitor: First “Subbie” of 2025!
On Friday, July 25th, we welcomed our first Sub-Antarctic fur seal of 2025! These magnificent visitors are almost as special as Columbo himself, distinguished by their soulful eyes and beautiful light-colored fur. This healthy female was spotted resting on a secluded beach down the coast. Following proper protocol, she was videoed for documentation and then left undisturbed to rest for as long as needed.
Professional Representation
We extend our best wishes to Dr. Anthony Creighton and Sr. Stefanie de Graaff as they travel to Cape Town to represent both Hartenbos Animal Hospital and SMART at a Seal Seminar. They’ll be presenting important findings about the rabies situation in our area. We’re confident they’ll carry our banner with pride and represent our organization exceptionally well.
